Working with Waxed Cotton
I just want to share with you my opinion on waxed cotton fabric. This is cotton material that has been treated with wax and it is used in the manufacture of weather resistant clothing. I personally like the aged look and the leather like feel.
I have used it in different projects and I am very pleased with the result. I have applied interfacing and stabilizer as I do with any cotton fabric and the result has been perfect. Also, machine sewing is easily done, but hard to hand sew. [read more=”Click here to Read More” less=”Read Less”]
My recommendation when ironing your project is to use a piece of fabric on top of your ironing board and also on top of the waxed fabric, this is because the heat will “soften” the wax a bit causing it to transfer onto the board and also stick to the iron. Your hands will also feel waxy, but none of these have become a problem for me.
