Cork fabric has been around for a while now, its properties are not of general knowledge yet. I have been wanting to use it for a while and I was surprised to see that there not many independent suppliers online, although, there are several on Amazon.
This great material is made by applying layers of cork onto woven fabric or PU backing. It is waterproof, washable, it can be printed and even embroidered. Another one of its qualities is that it does not fray, so you could cut a design as if you were making a stencil or sew two layers together without the need of a seam.
I am happy to say that it is an environmentally friendly material because cork is the bark of the “Cork Oak” and this particular tree eventually grows new layers of bark every time one has been pilled off.
Below you will find a video where I talk about all the tests I have done so far, I hope it is useful.
