Our customers, followers and subscribers’ privacy safeguarding is extremely important to us, and here we explain what we do in compliance with with GDPR.

1.- What personal data we collect and why we collect it

If you contact us, we may collect your name, email address, postal address, IP address. For the sole purpose of  responding to your inquiries. And we will only continue to contact you on your request.

Some other information might be collected automatically through “Cookies” for the functioning of our website.

We collect your data in order to:

  • Effectively interact with you
  • Provide you with information upon request
  • Effectively run our website
  • Analyzing your use of our website for continuous improvement of the service we provide

2.- Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

3.- Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

4.- Contact forms

As stated previously, if you use the “Contact Us” forms, we may collect your name, email address, postal address, IP address. For the sole purpose of  responding to your inquiries. And we will only continue to contact you on your request.

5.- Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

6.- Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

7.- Who we share your data with

  • WorPress  for the purpose of website hosting . Lawful, legitimate Interest.
  • Gmail for receiving and answering your emails and “Contact Us”  form messages. Lawful Legitimate Interest.
  • We also use You Tube for the purpose of making our tutorials available to the general audience. Lawful Legitimate Interest.
  • Royal Mail: If you wish to contact us by postal mail, we might retain your name and postal address and share them with Royal Mail for the purpose of communication. You will find our postal address  in point 11. Lawful, Legitimate Interest. 

Website Plugins:

Mailchimp plugin: For visitors to be able to subscribe to our mailing list if they so wish. We use this feature in order to send updates about our products, blog posts and tutorials via email, the percipient can unsubscribe whenever they wish.

Easy Media Download plugin: For visitors to be able to download sewing patterns.  In some cases, this plugin also includes a “Donate” button with link to Paypal , in case you think my work deserves a monetary reward. Lawful, Legitimate Interest.

Google Analytics : for analyzing traffic and visitor’s interaction in our website. Lawful, Legitimate Interest.

Anti-Spam by CleanTalk plugin: To protect our website from spam. Lawful, Legitimate Interest.

GDPR Cookie Compliance plugin: for visitors to consent use of cookies in our website. Lawful, Legitimate Interest.

Google+: for visitors to connect and share in Google+. Lawful, Legitimate Interest.

“Ultimate Social Media” plugin: For visitors to visit and share in social media, such as, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, email. Lawful, Legitimate Interest.

Etsy Shop plugin: to provide access to our Etsy shop, where visitors can also find our Privacy Policy  related specifically to Etsy. Lawful, Legitimate Interest.

8.- How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

9.- Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

10.- Your rights according to GDPR are:

    • right to access, correction and deletion of the information we gather from you
    • right to complain to corresponding authority
    • right to object and restrict the processing of your personal data
    •  the right to data portability
  • right to withdraw your consent at any time
